SERMON #4: “THE Awesome Character of the Lord”

SERMON APPLICATION QUESTIONS

1. How does the anger of the Lord display His faithfulness? Is there a difference between the anger of the Lord experienced by Israel in Judges 2 and the discipline of the Lord (Hebrews 12:6) experienced by new covenant believers? How does the discipline of the Lord influence your Christian walk? 

2. What is meant by the mercy of God?  How do we see the mercy of God on display in Judges 2:16-18? In what ways have you experienced the mercy of God in a time when you deserved His anger? How did you respond to the experience of His mercy? 

3. What is meant by the grace of God? How is God’s grace shown to His people (Judges 2:20-23)? When have you experienced God's grace in testing you? What is the purpose of His gracious testing (James 1:2-3)?

4. How is the long-suffering of the Lord evident in Judges 3:1-6? How does the long-suffering of the Lord give us hope and comfort?
