Inclement Weather Policy

In the event inclement weather requires cancellation of any GRBC event, including Sunday morning service, GRBC Elders and/or Staff will engage the following notification procedure to disseminate information as soon as is practically possible.

  • A church-wide email will be sent.
  • We will post notice on the church’s phone answering system, (757) 427-5087
  • A text alert will be sent out

The procedures for cancelling a Sunday morning service are as follows:

  • The Edlers shall meet in-person or virtually at least one hour prior to the event's start-time and discuss road and weather conditions at their locations and determine a consensus regarding cancellation.
  • If the event is cancelled, GRBC staff will follow the notification procedure.

The procedure for cancelling other church-sponsored events are as follows:

  • The person heading up the event will contact the the Edlers or other GRBC Staff to determine if event should be cancelled.
  • If the event is cancelled, GRBC staff will follow the notification procedure.

As always during inclement weather if services are NOT cancelled, each family is encouraged to exercise discretion to determine whether or not you and your family should attend.
